Tri-fold brochure design.
Student Health Services at Florida Atlantic University requested a redesign of their marketing materials, including a brochure (see poster here). Since content constitutes design direction, I analyzed the outdated brochure and determined that there was too much content for a standard tri-fold (a style that is outdated itself). A larger brochure fit not only the important content, but it fit the acrylic holders they had already been using in their offices.
For the design, the front and back covers of the brochure are a one image spread. Using a thin overlay on the duotone spread on the back was necessary to increase readability of the type. Gentle spacing and slight weight changes created hierarchy that draws the reader to the campus of interest and the necessary contact information.
A large part of the successful outcome of this brochure was the department’s willingness to schedule a photo shoot to provide a diverse set of fresh imagery.

Monique, I wanted to let you know how happy we are with the brochures you designed for Student Health Services. Many of our staff (as well as other departments who’ve seen them) have commented on how nice they look. It’s great! Thank you for recommending the new size. Thank you again for making us look so good!
